EAGLE MOUNTAIN, UT
Our team is based in Eagle Mountain, Utah - North/Northwest of Utah Lake in Utah County. We are a community of about 60,000 people set between Lake Mountain and the South end of the Oquirrh mountains. Families here work in a large variety of industries, but we are close to "Silicon Slopes" where many tech companies are based. |
JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL
We are an amateur, competitive, cross country mountain bike team made up of junior high and high school aged athletes who live in Eagle Mountain, UT. We are NOT associated with the Jr High or High School in an official way. We are 100% independent. The schools do support us in other positive ways, however. |
NICA AFFILIATED
We are privileged to be a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) affiliated team, through the Utah High School Cycling League. We practice and race within this system and align with their values, rules, and policies for athletes and coaches. To learn more about NICA, check out their webpage. |
OUr Team History
For several years, our Eagle Mountain athletes have been a part of the Westlake team in Saratoga Springs. Until 2019, there was only one high school (Westlake) in the area, and teams for NICA are generally organized by high school geographies.
During the 2019 season, and before race season began, the league required that kids attending Eagle Mountain schools race as Cedar Valley, since the Cedar Valley High School was opening during the Fall of 2019. Unfortunately, this was too late to separately organize and order jerseys, etc so we continued to practice and act like one Westlake team. Westlake was a large team (around 140 riders), but Cedar Valley riders comprised only 35 of those team members.
During the 2019 race season, the league required that Eagle Mountain kids compete as their own team, as Cedar Valley. We still raced in Westlake jerseys, but we had race plates that said Cedar Valley and they announced riders (sometimes) as Cedar Valley riders when they competed. Because we only had 19 high school riders, we competed in Division 3 in the Central Region.
In our first year racing as Cedar Valley, we achieved 6th place in the state out of 20 teams in Division 3, all with only 1 varsity girl and 0 varsity boys. A pretty amazing feat (we have a strong junior varsity team)!
In 2020, Cedar Valley competed in the Central region of our league and in Division 3 within the state. We had 40 total athletes and had a great season! Check out our Awards and Recognition page to see our results.
In 2021, we competed again in the Central Region of the League, but this time in Division 2, as we grew to 62 total HS riders. We had a total of 95 athletes on the team in 2021, which was incredible! Check out our Awards and Recognition page to see our results.
In 2022, we competed again in Region 6 of the League, but this time in Division 1, as we grew to 85 total HS riders. We had a total of 125 athletes on the team in 2022, which was another incredible increase in numbers!
